Clinical Trial Participants Who Receive Placebo to Eventually Receive Vaccine

Written by Yourway | November 18, 2020

Patients enrolled in the Pfizer and BioNTech clinical trial for a COVID-19 vaccine who originally receive a placebo will now be given the preventative vaccine. This will not occur until the U.S. Food and Drug Administration grants the vaccine an emergency use authorization or further regulatory approval, however. Trials are generally blinded so participants do not know whether they are receiving a placebo or treatment – though Pfizer hopes to amend this pending approval from regulatory bodies. Yourway has worked throughout the coronavirus pandemic to ensure drug products are delivered on time and even directly to patients, 24/7.
