COVID-19 Vaccine Trial Paused Due to Safety Concerns

Written by Yourway | September 16, 2020

AstraZeneca has halted it’s large-scale, later-stage global trial for a COVID-19 vaccine after a participant developed a severe adverse reaction. AstraZeneca will conduct a safety review to determine the link between the patient’s illness and the vaccine, the timeline of which is yet to be determined. AstraZeneca’s vaccine works through a modified chimpanzee adenovirus viral vector, which inserts coronavirus genes into human cells. This incident highlights the importance of clinical trials; as an integrated biopharmaceutical supply chain solutions provider offering a full range of primary and secondary packaging, logistics, storage and distribution services for the global pharmaceutical and biotech industries, Yourway is an ideal clinical trial partner globally.
