Portable Lab May Become Reality

Written by Yourway | March 12, 2020

Engineers at the University of Cincinnati have created a small and portable lab that would plug into a cell phone. The lab is capable of detecting conditions and infectious diseases including coronavirus, malaria, HIV, Lyme disease and even depression and anxiety. The device would reach a patient’s saliva through an app. "The entire test takes place on the chip automatically. You don't have to do anything. This is the future of personal healthcare," said UC doctoral student Sthitodhi Ghosh, the study's lead author. As an innovator in direct-to-patient services, Yourway is excited for the future of personalized medicine.
