A new study out of UCLA underscores the importance of genomic data produced in publicly funded cancer research laboratories in driving discovery and development of cancer treatments. Among the findings were a 50% increased likelihood of of pursuit of phase II trials when relevant public data is available and a 140% increase in likelihood of new clinical trials for additional indications for approved drugs. Getting new cancer treatments to patients involves the contributions of many stakeholders, from basic academic researchers through pharma companies and clinical trials services firms like Yourway.
